DARLENE ZOE OWENS
IDAHO FALLS, ID -- Darlene Zoe Owens, 83, of Idaho Falls, passed away November 3, 2008 at her sister's home.
She was born May 18, 1925 in St. Anthony, Idaho, to Wando J. Andrasen and Mabel L. Woodfield Andrasen. She attended local schools and graduated from St. Anthony High School. She attended Ricks College and the LDS School of nursing in Idaho Falls where she graduated in 1946 as a registered nurse.
On May 20, 1946, she married Blaine E. Owens in the Logan, Utah LDS Temple. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
She worked as a nurse her whole life, in many hospitals, at the Youth Training Center in St. Anthony, and at the INL.
She was very active in bowling, golf, and loved her pinochle club. She held every position in the Fremont County Women's Bowling Association and won numerous local and state awards.
Survivors include her sons, Bradley B. (Wendy) Owens of Idaho Falls, and Larry T. (Jana) Owens of Chandler, Arizona; two sisters, Carma (Lavar) Oliver, of Mapleton, Utah, and Margo Decker of Idaho Falls; 6 Grandchildren and 7 Great Grandchildren. When her children were very young, she found herself alone and spent the next few years working very hard to raise her two sons. This she did with loving kindness and understanding. She loved her children and was very proud of their accomplishments.
Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, November 7, 2008 at the Idaho Falls LDS 31st Ward Chapel, 1165 Azalea, with Bishop Richard N. Stewart officiating. The family will meet with friends from 10 to 10:45 a.m. at the church prior to the funeral. No evening viewing is planned, but friends may call on Thursday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Wood Funeral Home, 273 N. Ridge Ave., to pay their respects.
Interment will be at the St. Anthony Riverview Cemetery under the direction of Wood Funeral Home, 273 N. Ridge Ave. In lieu of flowers, the family wishes donations be made to Idaho Home Health & Hospice, 1910 Channing Way, Idaho Falls, ID 83404 or the Bonneville Humane Society, P.O. Box 2763, Idaho Falls, ID 83403.
