Darlene Neeley Harker, 77, of Idaho Falls, passed away March 8, 2012 at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center of sudden illness. Darlene was born April 20, 1934, in Evanston, Wyoming, to Louis Paul Neeley and Mary Pilling Neeley. She lived a few years in Evanston, Wyoming before the family moved to Utah and eventually to Shelby MT where she graduated from high school. She attended Brigham Young University and Ricks College. On February 22, 1955, she married Leo Kay Harker in the Idaho Falls Temple. To this union were born four children, Leo Scott, Deola Kay, Dixie Anna, and Dena Lynne. They began their family in Shelby Montana, later moving to Goleta, California, then to Idaho Falls, Great Falls Montana, and eventually back to Idaho Falls, Idaho. Darlene enjoyed working in retail and later in her life she co-owned a print and copy business with her husband. Darlene was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. As a young adult she served a mission in Montana and Wyoming. She also held various positions in the Church, she especially loved being involved with and teaching the children. She enjoyed: sewing, painting, quilting, and reading. Darlene made and donated several hundred rag dolls to be given to children in Haiti, Africa, Peru and the Navajo reservation. Her true passion was spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. The highlight of her life was staying up to date and keeping tabs on her posterity. She loved being a grandmother. Darlene is survived by her loving spouse and husband of 57 years, Leo; Son, Leo Scott (Joyce) Harker of Cashmere, WA.; Daughter, Deola (Grant) Finn of Pocatello, ID.; Daughter, Dixie (Gordon) Calkins of Lehi, UT.; Sister, Marylou Dooley of Shelley, ID; Brother, Doral (Cavel) Neeley of Santa Barbara, CA.; 20 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter, Dena Lynne Pugmire, and a sister Valois Orme. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, March 12, 2012, at the Wood Funeral Home East Side, 963 South Ammon Road, Idaho Falls. The family will visit with friends on Sunday from 7-8:30 p.m. and on Monday from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. prior to the services, both at Wood East Side. Burial will be held in Shelley-Hillcrest Cemetery.
