Darlene Green

Ida Darlene Taylor Green - always known as "Darlene" - passed away gently at age 84 on the morning of 13 September, 2016, in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, of natural causes. Darlene was born 9 May 1932, in Blackfoot, Idaho, to Cleo Arilla (Anderson) and Delbert "Dell" Uriah Taylor. She was the youngest of four siblings: Keith, Loa Jean, Gloria, and Darlene. Darlene was raised in Blackfoot with a charming mid-20th century small "hometown America" childhood. She loved her family members and many friends. She married her sweetheart, J Sheldon Green, in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple on September 7, 1950. Darlene and Sheldon loved each other deeply and dearly. Through thick and thin they gave their best in raising their family of six children with a knowledge of their loving devotion and the love of our Heavenly Parents. Darlene shared her religious devotion to Christ through service, particularly through music. She served for many years as pianist, chorister, and organist, and filled the home with sweet melodies. Our family enjoyed the echoes of her favorite love songs from younger years, hymns, and primary songs. Darlene had a special talent with handicrafts in many varieties. She particularly enjoyed crocheting, knitting, and tatting, along with sewing and painting scenes of natural beauty. She made her arts and crafts mostly as treasured gifts for family and friends. Baby dresses, afghans, paintings, and numerous Christmas decorations are among the precious gems left for us to enjoy. Her deep love and respect for her parents, progenitors, and siblings is also evident in the family history she compiled and helped to write as a tribute to her parents, grandparents, and great-grandparents. Her gift for writing was also shared in a collection of poetry and verses centered on the theme of home and family written throughout the years. The gradual but lasting loss of her eyesight during her last ten years was a tremendous disappointment and source of sadness. She replaced the sadness with generosity, devoting time and resources to visiting and spoiling her children and grandchildren. Darlene missed Sheldon - "Daddy" - tremendously since his passing in 2006. She is definitely relieved and happy to now be reunited with her childhood sweetheart and husband, as well as their two oldest children, Susan and David, who preceded her in death. She is survived by one son-in-law and four children: Albert Moorin (Susan, deceased); Diane Higbee (Dennis); Nancy Lucero (Henry); Bonnie Morey (John); and Tony Green (Shirley); 25 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. Darlene was also preceded in death by one great-grandson, baby Desmond Jared Higbee.
