Mr. & Mrs. Dooley,
Mike and I are Amanda's parents and have spent time with your son Dan'l. We are so very sorry to hear of his passing. He was always so friendly and polite while in our home. We offer our sincerest sympathy and prayers for your family. God bless you and may you seek comfort in knowing what a kind and loving son you raised.

Dear Dooley family,
He always had that smile that was like a half turned key. It was almost like he was hiding something small that was really funny. And I always wanted to know what that was, but he kept it from me because he liked to tease.
I have so many good memories that I cannot share them all in one letter. But I will share my favorites. The staff at camp we used to play this game called “pass the world”. One person would start by passing the world to someone that they saw that day do something extra ordinary or to share the love and friendship that they felt for that person. There was one time that Jared passed the world to Dan’l and he thanked his baby brother for coming to Idaho and for being up at camp. “I love you bro.” Jared said and clasped Dan’l’s hand. Dan’l smiled a sleepy half turned key smile and then they hugged. I was so touched by the love in Jared’s remarks. And I knew how much Dan’l loved Jared back. It was so tangible and so deep I carry it to this day. The relationship between these two wonderful men in my life was so strong it could never be broken.
Dan’l was a super hero. He was the one who would jump into the lake to retrieve a drifting inner tube, or he would be the one to go looking for lost horses in the dead of night. And he did it with such style. He was dashing and charismatic whenever he was helping. I remember when he got lost and went on the famous “24 Hour Hike”. I remember that day when after hours of trekking he triumphantly walked across the bridge with twelve bee stung, dehydrated, yet happy campers. Two of them literally slung under each arm. I remember their names, CJ and BJ. It was Dan’l’s first cabin ever and those twelve kids were bed wetters and homesickers: The hardest cabin a counselor could ask for. I remember giving apologetic smiles during that week. Ironic his first cabin and it was a lemon. However after that hike with Dan’l, those kids changed! They were confident and driven, as far as I knew two of those kids never wet the bed again. All because of one afternoon with Dan’l Dooley.
He was a fast friend and always there for me. He was one of the very few who kept in touch with me when I moved to Los Angeles, we would talk about when I would get him out there to become a model. (Because we all know how handsome he was.)
Things I remember:
I remember the green dress and black curly wig that he wore to dance night.
I remember when we first met. I had an instant crush. He was sooooo cute!
I remember when he was king Dooley in my play and would face plant just so the audience could get a laugh.
I remember the guitar under the stars.
I remember the love.
I remember the friendship.
I miss Dan’l.
I want to thank you all from the bottom of my heart for sharing your son with me. I am so grateful for his friendship and love I can’t really express it in words. So I express it in a hug. I am grateful for you all. There is no family I have encountered that is closer than yours and you have let me be a part of it by sharing Dan’l. Dan’l and Jared have been two of the most important people in my life, and always will be.
I know for a fact that Dan’l is stretching his wings and testing his new capabilities. Now he can exercise his new found superpowers to be with us and when things are bad and when things are good. (And knowing Dan’l even when things are somewhere in between.) I bet Dan’l may be a little sad right now, but only because he knows how much we are hurting, and also because he loved life so much. He will miss it I know, but he has to be so excited about what he is going to be doing next. Dan’l loves his family more than anything on this world and will never leave them.
I love you all from the very deepest places in my heart. Thank you for raising a son that has saved my life and taught me the true meaning of the words love unconditional.
Lisa Marie Wardell
I pass the world to you Dan’l, because you mean the world to me.
