NORMAN Y. MARSHALL
IDAHO FALLS, ID -- Norman Y. Marshall, 82, of Idaho Falls, died September 29, 2005 at his son’s home.
He was born October 8, 1922, in Sunnyside, Utah, to LeRoy Marshall and Mamie V. Young Marshall. The family moved to Idaho Falls, where he attended schools and graduated from Ammon High School. He later attended school at Ricks College and earned his Associate Degree. He graduated from parachute school in Ft. Benning, Georgia and served as a sergeant in the U. S. Army during World War II. He was a decorated veteran with the 101st Airborne who participated in the Normandy Invasion and was wounded at the Battle of the Bulge.
On August 11, 1943, he married LaDean Russell in Chesterfield, South Carolina. The marriage was solemnized on November 19, 1946, in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. He was a rancher and a farmer. He was chosen Jefferson County Cattleman of the Year and was President of the Westside Soil District.
He was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in various callings including Elder’s Quorum President and was a High Priest. He enjoyed horses, hunting, and fishing. He was an avid Celtic and Jazz fan and never missed attending his sons’ athletic games.

17 Grandchildren and 18 Great Grandchildren
He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, LeAnn Marshall; a sister, Jean Marshall; a grandson, Jacob Marshall.
Funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday, October 3, 2005, at the Idaho Falls LDS Osgood Ward (6925 North 15 East) with Bishop Gregg Landon presiding. The family will visit with friends Sunday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Wood Funeral Home (273 N. Ridge) and Monday for one hour prior to the services at the church.
Burial will be in Ammon Cemetery. Military Rites will be performed by the Bonneville County Veterans Team.
