Daniel James Custer

Daniel James Custer, 79, of Ammon, passed away June 8, 2023, at his home. He was under the care of OneSource Home Health and Hospice and his loving family.

Dan was born May 2, 1944, in Glendale, California, to Laurence Duncan Longree Custer and Shirley Evelyn Wagner Custer. Dan grew up and attended schools in Los Angeles and graduated from Eagle Rock High School. After graduation, he enlisted and served his country in the United States Army. He served in Korea for one year. After being honorably discharged from the Army, Dan moved to Denver, Colorado.

While living in Colorado, he met his future wife, Sheila Rae Barker, and they were married on June 18, 1967, in Aurora, Colorado. Daniel and Sheila made their home in Colorado where Dan worked as a Service Engineer.

Dan was a devout Christian and was an avid outdoorsman. He was a train enthusiast and enjoyed model trains. He also enjoyed working in his yard, camping, and studying history, especially the Civil War.

Daniel is survived by loving wife of 56 years, Sheila Rae Custer of Ammon, ID; daughter, Cheryl Custer of Idaho Falls, ID; daughter, Danna McIntosh of Idaho Falls, ID; six grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Larry, Mike, and Fred Custer.
