Daniel Gregg Ashworth

Daniel Gregg Ashworth, 71, of Idaho Falls, passed away July 9, 2024, at his home.

Daniel was born on March 8, 1953 in Great Falls, Montana, to Adam C. Ashworth and Janice E. Greaves Ashworth. He grew up and attended schools in Great Falls and Billings, MT, and graduated from Billings West High School in 1971.

Shortly after graduating Daniel enlisted into the Navy and was honorably discharged in 1974. In October of 1971 he married Barbara Corneau and had his first son Daniel Lee Ashworth. They later divorced. In August of 1978 he then married Marina L. Urrea, to whom he had a son, Michael James Ashworth and a daughter, Cynthia Lynn Ashworth. They later divorced but remained friends.

After leaving the Navy, Daniel began his career with Columbia Paint. Then a few years later he transitioned to Sherwin Williams, where he proudly worked for 29 years, retiring at the age of 59. Throughout his career he earned the nickname "Dr. Dan" as he sharpened his people skills and touched many lives, making numerous friends. He considered a stranger just a friend that he hadn't met yet.

He was a life member at the Elks Lodge and a member of the American Legion, and enjoyed attending Watersprings Church. He was very active in volunteering with EIRMC Hospital and with the Vietnam Veterans. He really enjoyed helping people and was a very loving and caring person to all.

Daniel enjoyed spending time with family, going to the cabin, golfing, traveling and making memories, and getting skunked at cribbage. He was an amazing listener and always went out of his way to talk to a fellow service member or veteran.

Daniel is survived by his brothers, Rick and Pat; his favorite sister, Lesley; sons, Danny (Michele) Ashworth of North Ogden, UT, and Michael (Jordan) Ashworth of Idaho Falls, ID; daughter, Cynthia (Ervin) Torres of Escondido, CA; 5 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Adam and Jan, and his brothers, Jeff and Kelly.

A celebration of life will be held at 1pm on August 11th, 2024, at the Elks Lodge, 640 East Elva Street. Military Honors will be performed by the Bonneville County Veterans Memorial Team and Idaho Honor Guard.

In lieu of flowers the family requests a donation be made in his name to the Veterans Fund through the Elks Lodge.

“One and half for Dan! Ugh!”
