Dan Heaton Stoddard, 93, of Idaho Falls, passed away December 10, 2015, at his home. He was under the care of Hands of Hope Hospice. Dan was born May 27, 1922, in Rexburg, Idaho, to Daniel Stuart Stoddard and Jane Heaton Stoddard. He grew up and attended schools in Rexburg and graduated from Madison High School. He also attended Utah State University. His college education was interrupted by World War II. He joined the Army Air Corps in January of 1942 and served as a pilot with the rank of First Lieutenant in the South Pacific Theater. On April 26, 1944, he married Betty Jean Timmerman in Rexburg, Idaho. To this union were born six children, Dan, Robert, Christy, Brad, Kevin, and Jan. Dan and Betty made their home in Idaho Falls, where Dan worked as a cabinet maker for Grimmett Building and Supply. From his childhood, Dan and his family spent summers working at Stoddard Family Sawmill in Island Park, Idaho. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He enjoyed golf, model trains, snowmobiling, fishing, gardening, and woodworking. Dan is survived by his son, Dan Stoddard of Idaho Falls, ID; son, Robert (Julia) Stoddard of Forest Grove, OR; daughter, Christy Graf of Alamo, NV; son, Brad Stoddard (Ty) of Rio Rancho, NM; son, Kevin Stoddard of Juneau, AK; son-in-law, Skip Cleverly of Idaho Falls, ID; 18 grandchildren, 43 great grandchildren, and one great great granddaughter. He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty; daughter, Jan Cleverly; parents, Dan and Jane Stoddard; and three sisters, Verla Lovejoy, Phyllis Call, and Norma Whipple. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, December 18, 2015, at the Idaho Falls LDS 19th Ward, 3370 North 500 West, with Bishop Greg Baczuk officiating. The family will visit with friends Thursday from 6:30-8 p.m. at Wood Funeral Home, 273 North Ridge Avenue, and Friday from 10-10:45 a.m. at the church. Burial will be in the Fielding Memorial Park Cemetery. Military Rites will be performed by the Bonneville County Veterans Memorial Team and Idaho Honor Guard.
