Dan "Animal" Barzee

Dan Barzee (always known as “Animal” to his friends), 55, of Shelley, passed away July 20, 2014, at his home. Dan was born January 26, 1959, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, to Maxine Marie Barzee, and was raised by his grandparents, George and Vera Barzee, in Roberts, Idaho. He grew up in Roberts, where he attended Roberts Elementary School, and area schools. Dan lived in Idaho Falls, Idaho; Coeur d’Alene, Idaho; Louisiana; and Florida. On May 2, 1998, he married Karen Garner. To this union was born a daughter, Katie. Dan and Karen were later divorced. Dan made his home in Shelley, Idaho, where he worked as a roofer for 20 years. He was working as a laborer at “Hidden Treasures” at the time of his death. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He enjoyed camping, fishing, and spending time with his family and his grandkids. Dan is survived by his daughter, Katie Barzee; step-daughter, Kellie Garner; grandchildren, Zackary, Carlos, Anaya, Adelynn; sister, Kathy Barzee; sister, Julie (Rick) Miller; sister, Lynette Thiesen; brother, Shawn McClure; sister, Cindy Scott, (Randy Sievers); sister, Sheila Benier (Jerry Glore); sister, Janean (Mike) Grammer; and lots of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, his grandparents, and a brother, Michael Young. Memorial services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Sunday, July 27, 2014, at the Band Shelter at Freeman Park. Burial services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, July 28, 2014, at the Annis-Little Butte Cemetery.
