While attending high school in Lewisville, Midway, and Rigby, he enjoyed playing basketball, baseball, and football. His appreciation for sports continued as he attended his children's and grandchildren's sports events throughout his life.

Dale worked in field construction as a welder and in operations and maintenance at the Idaho National Laboratory. He was a member of the American Welding Society. Dale shared his love for the great outdoors with his family. Together, they spent time hunting, hiking, and camping. From May to September, Dale could be found on the river steelhead fishing and white-water rafting. In the winter, he enjoyed piecing and sewing quilt tops with Esther for their grandchildren.
A devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Dale found great fulfillment in his faith and service. He held a variety of callings, including Scout Leader, Bishop, High Counselor, and Primary Teacher. He often testified of his love for Jesus Christ and His atonement.
