Cynthia Ann Schmidtke Scheuermann, 57 of Idaho Falls, Idaho, passed away suddenly on August 2, 2013, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center in Idaho Falls of a pulmonary embolism.
Cindy was born November 3, 1955, in Portsmouth, Virginia, to James Schmidtke and Phyllis Mason Schmidtke. Cindy attended Woodrow Wilson High School in Portsmouth and graduated from Western Branch High School in Chesapeake, Virginia. She attended James Madison University in Harrisonburg, Virginia, for two years and went on to earn her Bachelor of Science in Nursing Degree from the Medical College of Virginia in Richmond.
Cindy met her husband, Keith Scheuermann, during her surgical nursing internship at MCV. In 1982, they moved to Idaho Falls and were married on October 15, 1983. She worked as a surgical nurse first at Madison Memorial Hospital in Rexburg, Idaho, then accepted a position at Idaho Falls Consolidated Hospitals, which later became Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center.
In February, 1987, Cindy and Keith were blessed with twin girls, Sarah & Lydia, whom she adored. She was a devoted stay at home mom for many years. When the girls went to high school, she resumed her nursing career at the Idaho Falls Surgical Center and worked there until it closed in July, 2011. A year ago she returned to surgical nursing at Madison Memorial Hospital in Rexburg, Idaho, where she had begun her nursing career.
Cindy was one of Jehovah's Witnesses. She was active in the field ministry and enjoyed assisting in the construction of new Kingdom Halls. She was a dedicated horseshow mom and loved playing pinochle with family and friends. Cindy loved the outdoors. She was an avid skier and in the winter could frequently be found on the Idaho Falls Ski Bus to Grand Targhee. In the summer you could find her at the beach in North Carolina at the Outer Banks.
Cindy is survived by her loving husband of 30 years, Keith Scheuermann of Idaho Falls, Idaho;
Daughter, Sarah Scheuermann of St. Paul, MN;
Daughter, Lydia Scheuermann of St. Paul, MN;
Mother, Phyllis Mason Schmidtke, who currently resides in the Outer Banks, NC;
Sister, Patricia Schmidtke Kitchens of Summerville, SC;
Sister, Jean (Wayne) Denny of Kill Devil Hills, NC;
Sister, Pamela (Edison) Collins of Ellicott City, MD.
She was preceded in death by her father.
Funeral Services will be held at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 7, 2013, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 4805 Sweetwater Way (off 49th South in Ammon), with Bruce Patterson officiating.
