Corinne Erica (Mccormick) Zona

Corinne Erica Zona (Cory), loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on September 9, 2023, at Lakeview Hospital in Bountiful, Utah.

Cory was born to Agnes and Arthur McCormick on July 16, 1954, while her family was stationed in French Morocco Africa. She spent most of her youth in Blackfoot, Idaho where she graduated from Blackfoot High School in 1972.

She worked many jobs to provide the best for her family as a single mother of four children, but her true career was with the Naval Reactors Facility where she retired after nearly 30 years of service.

Although Cory was small in stature, she was mighty. She fought a courageous battle against stage 4 Lymphoma cancer and was declared completely cancer free in April of 2020. Even in her darkest and weakest moments she was worried about the things going on in the lives of her family, and not her own personal trials. She shared her light and love of life to all those that had the pleasure of knowing her.

Cory met the true love of her life, Patrick Zona, in 1995. They were married on April 27, 2001. Cory loved traveling with Patrick and spending time in their backyard together. He stayed by her side in good times and in bad, and always took great care of her. For that we are forever grateful.

The family, and especially our mother, would like to thank all those that compassionately cared for her over the years, specifically the medical staff at Teton Cancer Institute, Summit Orthopedics, EIRMC, and Western Peaks Hospital.

Cory is survived by her husband, Patrick Zona; four children, Amanda McConeghy (Tyler), Nicholas Stuart (Rachel), Emily Hofhine (Shane), and Anthony Cox (Jessica); 13 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her by her parents Agnes and Richard Hobday, brother Doug McCormick, and sister, Cathy Fox.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 16, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. at Wood Funeral Home, 273 N. Ridge Ave in Idaho Falls. Friends are invited to meet with the family prior to funeral services from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
