Connie Call

Connie Wheeler Call, 81, of Bedford, Texas, and formerly of Idaho Falls, passed away September 23, 2016, in Bedford. After surviving ovarian cancer for more than 6½ years, Connie passed away peacefully in her home.

Connie was born on July 9, 1935, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, to Etsel & Fay Wheeler of Ririe. She graduated as Salutatorian from Ririe High School in 1953. On August 7, 1953, she married Dennis Boyd Call in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple.

Connie met her beloved Dennis at a church dance in September 1952. They were crazy in love to the point that Dennis could hardly focus on his school work. That love would take them and their six children from coast to coast, and created a love of adventure in each of their sweet little ones. From her example, her children learned to "bloom where they're planted." From 1992-1995, Connie and Dennis served two consecutive missions for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Vancouver British Columbia Mission. After their missions, they moved to Bedford, Texas. Connie's passions for the Gospel of Jesus Christ and for people were expressed through her diligence in the various callings she served in throughout her life, and in the way she taught her posterity to love what is truly important. She taught adult religion class for over a dozen years, served weekly in the Dallas LDS Temple for 20 years, and was committed to her personal gospel study. Her love for each of her family members was evident to all who observed her, and her devotion to her husband was a beautiful thing to behold.

She was the matriarch of a large posterity, with 6 children, 25 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. She is survived by her sweetheart of 63 years, Dennis Boyd Call; daughters, Camielle Call, Denalee Chapman (Brad), & Jennilyn Eckersley (Noel); sons, Bruce (Patti), Michael (Shannon) & Darryn (Blanca) Call; grandchildren, Joshua Thomas, Stephanie (Evan) Coates, Kimberly (Josh) Gleason, Tom (Megan) Call, Scott Call, Trevor (Caci) Chapman, Brooke (Steven) Redfern, Bryan Chapman, Sierra (Brett) Robinson, Azure (Luc) Tomlinson, Rachel (Anthony) Cool, Rebecca Call, Robert Call, Mary Ann Call, John Call, Diane (Andrew) Sheafor, Eric Steven Eckersley, Addison (Ana) Call, Juliette (Josh) Chamberlain, Carolina Call, Christopher Call, Geoffrey Call & Jonathan Call; honorary granddaughters, Sonya (Golden) Fulcher & Vanessa (Nathan) Murphy; great-grandchildren, Spencer, Natalie & Henry Coates, Gehry, Maeby & Angus Gleason, Samantha & Adelaide Call, Jace, Cali, Kensington & Crew Chapman, Gage, Kjel, Will & Merit Redfern, "Throckmorton" Robinson (soon-to-be-born), Steven, Scott & Dustin Sheafor, and honorary great-grandchildren, Jared Fulcher and Laneah Murphy. She is preceded in death by her parents, John Etsel Wheeler & Myra Fay Morgan Wheeler; her two brothers, Wendell and Everett Wheeler, and her sister Thelma, who all passed away as children; her sisters, Verla Hansen, Zelda McBride, Marcene Loveall, Lucile Avery, Fern Fillmore, Belva Lou Spaulding and Joyce Sanchez; and her son-in-law, Steven Eckersely.
