Colleen Ricks

Colleen Dawn Ricks, 59, passed away August 20, 2015, after a five year battle with ovarian cancer. She is the daughter of Donald Henry Kline and Lois Jones Kline of Orten, Alberta, and the wife of Rand Ricks. She was born August 17,1956, in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, and married, January 31,1981, in Cardston, Alberta. Colleen was as elegant as she was grounded, and as compassionate as she was "selective." Always looking to "pay it forward", she was unique in her effort and individual in her accomplishment. She was a people person, genuinely interested in their positive advancement. She touched the lives of many by making them aware they were important to themselves and to her. She was unparalleled in cooking and gardening (she'd get sweat on her lip if there was a weed she couldn't pull...) She had an eye for physically arranging things and a flair for "presentation." She was a quilter and a force of life moving to her own rhythm. She loved children and spent years as support staff in Idaho Falls School District 91. She worked at Skyline High School, Taylorview Junior High, and Sunnyside Elementary, leaving her unique brand of individuality with teachers and students alike at each institution. She found her basis for life as taught in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, supporting activities, and serving in many callings, broadening out her "sphere of influence" unconditionally. She wasn't perfect as she said, but she was a joy (which she didn't say). She is survived by her husband, Rand; her mother Lois Kline; and her four boys, Christopher Ricks (USN) of San Diego, CA; Joshua and Paul Ricks of Idaho Falls, ID; and Luke Ricks of Austin, TX; brothers, Dan and Bill Kline; sisters, Ketena Erickson, Vivian Ruddy, Kelly Burnett, ReAnn Simpson, and Marlene Findlay. She was preceded in death by her father Don Kline. A heartfelt thanks to all of the dedicated employees at the Teton Cancer Institute and Hands of Hope Hospice for the compassionate and professional care and support in their critical missions to work miracles, stem the ravages of disease and provide comfort in the hours of need. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 29, 2015, at Idaho Falls LDS 4th Ward, 955 Memorial Drive, with Bishop Travis Walker officiating.
