Colleen Kay Stanglin, age 89, died on Tuesday, August 21, 2019. Colleen was born on July 8, 1930 in Clawson, Idaho to Zella (McKay) Bahr and William Ellis Bahr. Colleen was a very active and involved member of the Irving community. She helped work city and general elections for forty plus years. She was a member of the ISAAC – Irving Special Activities Advisory Council, helping to set up parades and special events. Colleen was very talented with crafts and loved participating in craft shows with her beautiful plastic canvas embroidery. She enjoyed knitting, playing bingo and fishing. She had a passion for dancing of all kinds, including ballroom, square dancing and round dancing. Colleen is preceded in death by her parents; grandparents Lewis McKay and Emily McKay; spouse of forty-three years Julius "Curley" Stanglin; brothers Burnell "Burr" Bahr, Don Brown, Gerald Bahr, Raymond Bahr, Mikel Bahr; sister Barbara Wilder; grandchildren Ricky Gafford; great granddaughter Hannah Lyons; daughter Donna Terry. Left to cherish her memory are children Tillie Gaddy and partner Danny Wilson, Virgie Jones, Judy Gafford and husband Richard, Christie Williams and husband Eddie, Paul Stanglin and wife Debra, Julie Weeks and husband Floyd; seventeen grandchildren; over fifty great grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; sister Karen Stoddard; brother-in-law Maurice Stanglin and wife Betty; cousin Carol Primm and husband Jerry; as well as many other loving friends and extended family. The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm, Friday, August 23, 2019 at Brown's Memorial Funeral Home, 707 North MacArthur Blvd., Irving, TX 75061. An interment is being planned for a later date at Fielding Memorial Park Cemetery in Idaho Falls, Idaho. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations to St. Jude's Hospital by going to their website at https://www.stjude.org/.
Graveside services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, August 27, 2019, at Fielding Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will visit with friends from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at Wood Funeral Home, 273 North Ridge Avenue before going to the cemetery.
