CLIFFORD MECHAM
IDAHO FALLS, ID -- Clifford Mecham, 88, of Idaho Falls, died December 31, 2005, at his home from complications of Alzheimer’s Disease. He was under the care of Hospice of Eastern Idaho.
He was born January 21, 1917, in Swan Lake, Idaho, to Leo Mecham and Malinda May Adams. He attended Riverdale Elementary and Preston High School then attended an Auto Mechanics Course. He served as Private 1st Class in the U. S. Marine Corps during World War II.
He married Adria Larue Hansen June 7, 1941, in Preston, Idaho. Their marriage was solemnized in the Logan, Utah LDS Temple January 6, 1943. He worked as a dairy field man in commercial dairies.
As a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, he served in many callings including Young Men Leader and in the Bishopric. He enjoyed attending livestock auctions, working in his yard, and shared the love of many people.
He is survived by:
Wife: Adria Larue Mecham, Idaho Falls;
Daughter: Tora Mae (Jay) Gatten, Kaysville, UT;
Son: Delwin Clifford (Linda) Mecham, Las Vegas, NV;
Daughter: Jeanne Johnson, Idaho Falls;
14 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren;
Brothers: Donald Mecham, Gilbert, AZ;
Burnise Mecham, Preston, ID;
Sister: Clara Rainsdon, South Jordan, UT.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Shauna Lee, five sisters and four brothers.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, January 4, 2006, at the Idaho Falls LDS 16th Ward, 9th and Boulevard, with Bishop Mark Richardson officiating. The family will visit with friends for one hour prior to services at the church.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to Primary Children’s Medical Center, P.O. Box 58249, Salt Lake City, UT 84158, or Hospice of Eastern Idaho, 1810 Moran St., Idaho Falls, 83401. The family wishes to extend their sincere gratitude to the staff at Lily Home and to Hospice of Eastern Idaho for their care and concern.
A viewing and family prayer will then be held Wednesday at 3:00 p.m. at the Preston LDS 7th Ward, 155 North 200 West, Preston, Idaho. Burial will be in the Preston City Cemetery where military rites will be performed by the Preston Veterans Team.
