CLEORA SUMMERS TROUTDALE, OR -- Cleora Hansen Summers, 93, died May 2, 2006, in Troutdale, Oregon. She was born September 2, 1912, in Goshen, Idaho, to Hiram and Esther Peterson Hansen. She grew up on a little farm near Shelley and graduated from Firth High School in 1930. She attended the University of Idaho and the University of Utah. On September 1, 1934, she married Austin Summers in Goshen. They moved to Gresham in 1953. She worked for the Olympic Manufacturing Company and Hicks Department Store and, beginning in 1963, for the Oregon Fish Commission, from which she retired August 31, 1973. Austin died in 1986. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She enjoyed gardening, canning, and traveling, sewing and teaching others to sew. Cleora was famous for her lemon meringue pies and hand dipped chocolates. Surviving are her children, Robert (Orly) Summers of London, England, and Ray (Renae) Summers of Troutdale, OR; brother, Melvin Hansen of Shelley; six grandchildren; and eighht great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband; brothers, Rodney, Ruel and Afton Hansen; and sister, Opal Boyte. Funeral Services will be at 12 Noon Monday, May 8, 2006, at the Troutdale LDS Church, 1515 SW Cherry Park Road, Troutdale, OR. The family will visit with friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the Gresham Funeral Chapel, 257 SE Roberts Avenue, Gresham, OR. Burial will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 13, 2006, at the Goshen Cemetery, under the direction of Wood Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to the LDS Perpetual Education Fund, c/o LDS Philanthropies, P. O. Box 17188, Provo, UT 84602-7188.
