Clayton Stewart Miller, Jr., 79, of Idaho Falls, passed away peacefully at Tambree Meadows Assisted Living in Idaho Falls, Idaho, on November 13, 2017. Clayton was born on July 16, 1938, in Yakima, Washington, to Clayton Stewart Miller, Sr. and Harriet Mitchell Miller. He grew up and attended schools in Yakima. He attended college in Washington and Idaho. He received his Doctorate Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Utah State University and defended his thesis at Stanford University. He then moved to Idaho Falls and worked at the Site for many years. After retiring, he worked as a private consultant for several years. On July 9, 1966, he married Dorothy B Smith in Ogden, Utah. He and Dorothy were sealed in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple on July 9, 1976. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many positions. He enjoyed reading, learning, and computers. He especially loved spending time with his family. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Miller of Idaho Falls, ID; daughter, Lisa (Eric) Anderson of Park City, UT; son, Mark Stewart (Allison) Miller of Boston, MA; daughter, Traci (Michael) Hunsaker of American Fork, UT; sister, Mary (David) Lamb of Seattle, WA; and 5 grandchildren, Sarah, Matthew, Nathan, Hailey and Katherine. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother; grandparents; and a son, Michael C. Miller. At Clayton’s request, no funeral services will be held. The family wishes to thank Encompass Hospice and Tambree Meadows for the loving care they provided for Clayton.
