CLAUDIA GODFREY
REXBURG, ID -- Claudia Hansen Godfrey, 95, a longtime
Garfield resident, died February 5, 2005, at the Rexburg Nursing Center
of causes incident to age.
She was born August 31, 1909, in Lincoln, Idaho, to Christian Sophus
Hansen and Eva McMullin Hansen. She grew up in Iona and graduated from
Iona High School.
She married Charles Ernest Godfrey November 17, 1927, in Rexburg, Idaho.
Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake, Utah LDS Temple.
They made their home in Garfield, near Rigby, and farmed their entire
lives. A homemaker, farm wife, and mother, she also worked for over 20
years at Rogers Brothers in Idaho Falls. Her husband passed away March
12, 1990.
An active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints,
she served in the Ward and Stake Sunday School and taught Junior Genealogy.
She was a member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers. Claudia enjoyed
fishing, camping, handiwork, playing cards, gardening, singing hymns while
doing dishes, and making bread.

Daughter: Sharla (Warren) Grover, Idaho Falls, ID
Brother: Rosco “Bud” (Yvonne) McMullin, Portland, OR
18 Grandchildren, 76 Great Grandchildren, 58 Great Great Grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles E. Godfrey, two brothers,
Douglas Hansen and Homer Hansen, two sisters, Vivian Ward and Helen Benzon,
and three great grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, February 8, 2005, at Wood
Funeral Home, 273 North Ridge, Idaho Falls, with her Grandson-In-Law,
President Wayne Smith, officiating. The family will visit with friends
Tuesday for one hour prior to the services at Wood Funeral Home.
Burial will be in the Ucon Cemetery under the direction of Wood Funeral
Home.
