Clarice Petersen

Clarice Thomson Petersen, 89, of Idaho Falls, passed away October 14, 2016, at her home. She was under the care of her loving family and Encompass Home Health.

Clarice was born April 2, 1927, in Lewiston, Utah, to George Asa Thomson and Seneth Hyer Thomson. She grew up and attended schools in Utah and graduated from North Cache High School.

On January 15, 1947, she married Jean Carol Petersen in the Logan, Utah LDS Temple. To this union were born four children, Curtis, Arlene, Lance, and Ace. Clarice and Jean made their home in Idaho Falls, where Clarice was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She took great joy in holding each new grandchild and great-grandchild. Clarice and Jean enjoyed serving in the temple as temple workers their last years together. She died firm in the knowledge that she would be reunited with those she loved.

Clarice was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She was an avid reader and enjoyed coloring in color books. She loved watching the Dodgers and Rockies baseball teams, and the Utah Jazz. She especially loved her cat, Charlie. She loved having friends and family visit. She made sure you never left her house hungry.

The family would like to express thanks and gratitude to friends and neighbors who stayed with her over the last few months.

Clarice is survived by her daughter, Arlene (John) Witbeck of Idaho Falls, ID; son, Lance (Maureen) Petersen of Alpine, WY; son, Ace (Karry) Petersen of Idaho Falls, ID; sisters, Ann McFarland and Reta Armstrong; 13 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.
