Claren Holm

Claren Paul Holm, 88, of Idaho Falls, passed away peacefully surrounded by family and friends on February 7, 2016, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center.

Claren was born December 18, 1927, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, to Carl Paul Theophilus Holm and Zula Wilcox Holm. He grew up and attended schools in Roberts and graduated from Roberts High School. He served in the United States Navy during World War II and the Korean Conflict and reached the rank of Petty Officer, 3rd Class. He received a World War Victory Medal and an Asiatic Pacific Area Campaign Medal.

He married Uzona Virginia Dutson on May 21, 1948 . To this union were born four children, Corey, Layne, Valja RaKell, and Eden. Claren and Uzona were later divorced. Claren married Clairelyn "Lynne" McKinlay on February 20, 1971, which added three children to his family; Carrie, Tami, and Stephanie. Blending two families was quite a large task and they did it well, as you can see by the large number of extended family. Claren and Lynne made their home in Idaho Falls, where Claren farmed in Osgood and Roberts.

Claren was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He enjoyed Harley-Davidson motorcycles, and he and Lynne made the trip to Sturgis every year for 10 years. They also had many memorable adventures in their motorhome with their children and grandchildren. Claren was very patriotic and had a great love of country.

Claren is survived by his daughter, Carrie (Don) Potter of Idaho Falls, ID; daughter, Tami (Mike) Bolender of Idaho Falls, ID; daughter, Stephanie (David Odell) Scott of Boise, ID; son, Corey (Tara) Holm of Kaysville, UT; son, Layne Holm of Las Vegas, NV; daughter, Valja RaKell (Scott) Worton of Idaho Falls, ID; daughter, Eden Holm of Idaho Falls, ID; brother, Del Ray (Shirley) Holm of Roberts, ID; sister, Nelda (Richard) Adams of Idaho Falls, ID; sister, Veneta (Gus, deceased) Gustaveson of Idaho Falls, ID; sister, Rhonda (Richard) Groberg of Idaho Falls, ID; 21 grandchildren and 36 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Lynne; brother, Carl "Bud" Holm; and sister, Marna Adams.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 13, 2016, at the Idaho Falls LDS Mountain View Ward, 1450 Mountain View Lane, with Bishop Randall Wheeler officiating. The family will visit with friends from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday at Wood Funeral Home, 273 North Ridge Avenue, and Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. at the church. Burial will be in the Fielding Memorial Park Cemetery.

Military Rites will be performed by the Bonneville County Veterans Memorial Team and Idaho Honor Guard.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the Bonneville County Veterans, 1934 North 3750 East, Idaho Falls, ID 83401.
