Clara "Arline" Branson

Biography

Clara Arline Shurtliff Branson, 88, of Idaho Falls, passed away November 17, 2010, at the home of her daughter in Pahrump, Nevada. She was born December 26, 1921, in Iona, Idaho to Thomas Irea Shurtliff and Mayme Mae Smith Shurtliff. She grew up and attended schools in the area. In February of 1937, she married Willard Wadsworth in Iona and to this union four children were born. They were later divorced. On June 8, 1951, she married F. Blaine Branson in Helena, Montana and they had two children. Their marriage was solemnized in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple on June 23, 1964. He preceded her in death on August 24, 1994. Arline was a mother and homemaker and also worked as a Meter Maid for the Idaho Falls Police Department, J. C. Penneys, Roger Brothers, French's, & Hart's Tux & Gowns. She served in scouting as both a Girl Scout and a Cub Scout Leader. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in various callings including Relief Society, Young Women’s Secretary, Primary Teacher, and Stake Dance Director with her wonderful dance partner, Blaine. Arline enjoyed dancing, sewing, and especially loved being with family and friends. Survivors are: Daughter: Carol E. Mansfield, Idaho Falls, ID Son: Ronald C. (Lou) Wadsworth, Price, UT Daughter: Irene M. (Thomas) Robicheaux, Idaho Falls, ID Daughter: A Christine (Kent) Williams, Pahrump, NV Daughter: Cathy (Larry) Hawker, Blackfoot, ID Son: Jody L. (Danae) Branson, Idaho Falls, ID Brother: Rene Shurtliff, Hamer, ID Brother: Marvin Shurtliff, Idaho Falls, ID Brother: Rex (Alice) Shurtliff, Idaho Falls, ID 21 Grandchildren and 34 Great Grandchildren as well as many special nieces and nephews She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, 2 sisters, 2 brothers, 5 sisters-in-law, 5 brothers-in-law, and 3 great grandsons. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, November 24, 2010, at the Idaho Falls LDS Rose Park Ward (351 W. 14th Street) with Bishop Scott Smith officiating. The family will visit with friends on Tuesday from 7-9:00 p.m. at Wood Funeral Home, 273 N. Ridge Ave., and on Wednesday from 10-10:45 a.m. prior to the services at the church. Burial will be in the Iona Cemetery.
