Chuck Buchanan

Charles Raymond Buchanan, 86, of Idaho Falls, passed away July 22, 2015, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center. Chuck was born July 18, 1929, in Unadilla, Nebraska, to Chester R. Buchanan and Gladys Genevieve Catuska Buchanan. He grew up and attended schools in Madrid, Nebraska, and graduated from Madrid High School in 1948. He attended the Navy Nursing School and also Pipefitter's Trade School from which he graduated in 1955. Chuck married Clair E. Patrick and the couple later divorced. On August 10 1955, he married Leola Whitney. Chuck and Leola made their home in Idaho Falls, Idaho, where Chuck worked as a Pipefitter for Pipefitters Local 648. They remained devoted to each other until Leola's death in 1997. He was a member of the Eagles Lodge and also a Gold Card Member of the Pipefitter's Union. He enjoyed crafting knives, carving, cooking, hunting, fishing, camping and was an avid rock hound. Chuck is survived by nephew, Gary Champion (like a son); daughter, Mary Ellen (Nick) Lewis of Blackfoot, ID; daughter, Patricia Ann (Roger) Villalovos of Huston, TX; daughter, Karen Inglestrom of Idaho Falls, ID; daughter, Shawna (Dennis) Staggs of Rigby, ID; daughter, Pamala LeVan of Idaho Falls, ID; son, Charles R. (Wendy) Buchanan, Jr. of Idaho Falls, ID; brother, Donald Nordmeyer of Post Falls, ID; brother, John Buchanan of Ogalala, NE; sister, Mary Jane Buchanan of Madrid, NE; 7 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, and 32 great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Leola Whitney Buchanan, daughter, Sandra Buchanan, brothers/sisters Arthur Nelson, Gert Rathe, Faye Buchanan, Donald D. Buchanan, and William Buchanan, grandson, David Lewis, and great granddaughter Cassie Lewis. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, August 15, 2015, at Wood Funeral Home, 273 North Ridge Avenue, with Woods Funeral Home officiating. The family will visit with friends from 1:00 to 1:45 p.m. prior to services. Burial will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery.
