Christopher Stanislaw Kubs, 77, of Arco, passed away November 4, 2025, at the Idaho State Veterans Home in Pocatello, Idaho.
Christopher was born on April 30, 1948, in Ventorf, Germany, and was the son of Marian Stanislaw Kubs and Irene Nowak Kubs. At just 18 months old, his family immigrated to the United States, where he grew up in Delaware, and graduated from Seaford Senior High School in 1966.
Following graduation, Christopher enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and served as part of the Marine Recon during the Vietnam War. In May of 1968, while serving in Vietnam, he was wounded in combat and received the Purple Heart. He was awarded numerous medals, including the Presidential Unit Citation and the Vietnam Service Medal, in recognition of his courage and commitment. After returning home, he pursued higher education and earned a degree in English with a minor in History from Utah State University.
On October 6, 2013, he married Lianne Nield Christesen, in Idaho Falls, and together they made their home in Arco. Christopher’s life was marked by grit, craftsmanship, and a love of the land. He spent several years working as a cowboy and cow boss on the wide-open range before starting his business, Creative Metal, where he specialized in black smithing, welding, and ornamental metalwork. His work remains on display at lodges and private residences throughout the Sun Valley area.
Christopher was a man of many passions. He found joy in golfing, fishing, riding horses, and reading history. He was a gifted storyteller, known for sharing his fascinating life experiences, and he took pride in cooking authentic Polish food that honored his heritage. He was also fluent in Polish and German, a testament to his intelligence and lifelong love of learning.
Christopher is survived by his wife, Lianne Kubs of Idaho Falls, ID; his sister, Eva Kubs Walker of Elkton, MD; step - daughters, Jenette Trube (Kevin) of Idaho Falls, ID, Darci Phelps of Shelley, ID, and Heather Carpenter (Scotty) of Ammon, ID; ten grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
He carried discipline, pride, and purpose through every chapter of his life. He will be remembered and loved by those who knew him.
