Christopher Glanzer

Christopher Jay Glanzer, 44, of Idaho Falls, passed away November 27, 2016, at his home following an extended illness. Chris was born March 8, 1972, in Sioux City, Iowa, to Elroy "Bud" Glanzer and Janice Mae Petersen-Glanzer. At seven months of age his parents moved to Lombard, Illinois, where his father attended and graduated from Chiropractic College. At the age of four, Chris moved to Idaho Falls where he attended Ammon Elementary and graduated from Bonneville High School. Chris attended Boise State University and Idaho State University where he was actively involved in the Pep and Marching Bands. Chris continued to pursue his love of music and the drums by performing in many local bands. He toured the Northwest with the well known Ron Lloyd Band playing in many State Fairs and festivals. In the year 2000, Chris moved to Nashville, Tennessee where Chris continued to work in the music business. This gave him the opportunity to further develop his drumming talents. It was during these years that Chris developed the reputation as being one of the best drummers in Nashville. Unfortunately, Chris’s dream was cut short by illness. He returned to Idaho Falls in 2006, where he continued to be active in many local bands. Chris had many interest in addition to his drumming. Foremost among these were his love of nature and his interest in protecting many threatened species. Chris enjoyed boating and exploring Lake Powell. He was an excellent swimmer and an accomplished cyclist. Chris was a voracious reader and never stopped learning. His mind was always active and he would engage you in almost any topic. Chris was a kind, gentle soul who was loved by all. Chris is survived by his parents, Elroy "Bud" and Janice Glanzer; brothers, Barry Glanzer of Idaho Falls and Mark (Debra) Glanzer of Wilkesboro, North Carolina; and grandmother, Lillian Glanzer (age 99) of Marion, South Dakota. He is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Memorial Services will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, December 2, 2016, at Wood Funeral Home (273 North Ridge Avenue). The family will visit with friends on Friday from 12:30 p.m. to 1:45 p.m. prior to the services at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the Teton Cougar Fund, 125 N. Cache St., Jackson, WY 83001.
