Christine Jamison

Christine Hunsaker (Furniss) Jamison, 65, of Idaho Falls, passed away August 22, 2018, at her home. She was born December 12, 1952, in Brigham City, Utah, to Thomas Donald Hunsaker and Vilda Whetten Hunsaker. She grew up in the area and attended Honeyville Elementary, Box Elder Junior High and graduated from Box Elder High School. She attended Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah, and later Idaho State University in Pocatello, where she graduated with her Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education. She started her career as a teacher at Rocky Mountain Middle School teaching 6th grade. She chose education because it blended nicely with her most important role, that of being a mom. She'd always loved children and teaching was a nice fit. In 1974, she married Nolan Furniss. They made their home in Moreland, Idaho, where their six children were born, Nathan, Lyndsay, Katie, Luke, Brooke and Jordan. Christine and Nolan divorced in 1993. When her children were little, she organized play groups with real curriculum and learning models. She also volunteered to teach music in the kid’s school. Christine was later approached to teach Elementary Music in School District 93 and became the Music Education Supervisor for ten years, overseeing the music education and hiring of music teachers. A fellow teacher and friend, Larrainne Taylor, asked if she could give Christine’s phone number to her friend, Brad Jamison, a chiropractor. This was the start of something big. More learning and growth than she could imagine occurred over the next three years as they developed a friendship, then courtship, then friendship, then courtship and finally she decided Brad was and always will be the man for her. They were married November 7, 2015. She loves and adores him. Their love is forever and timeless. Some say it’s tragic that they only got three years to enjoy each other as husband and wife. Despite that fact, their time together was a profound final act of lasting love, service, and hope. He stepped into her life after she'd been diagnosed with cancer and, because of his loving care, we got to have mom a lot longer. Christine was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served valiantly her whole life in numerous callings including Primary President, Young Women’s President and Relief Society President. She felt strongly that her actions should match her deep love for her Father in Heaven. Christine’s life reflected loyalty, diligence, and her commitment to service. Her desire to serve the community, her family, and her Savior, was her life’s purpose. During her 18 years as a public school instructor, she provided an educational reference for the development of young minds. She was defined by her devotion to God, and her family. She will be remembered as a loyal wife, mother, and friend. Christine always put the interests of others above her own. Her investment in nurturing will yield goodness for generations. Her presence will be sorely missed by all. Christine is survived by her loving husband, Brad Jamison of Idaho Falls, ID; son, Nathan (Laura) Furniss of Washington, UT; daughter, Lyndsay (Aaron) Graven of Las Vegas, NV; daughter, Katie (Ryan) Taylor of Anthem, AZ; son, Luke (Melanie) Furniss of Idaho Falls, ID; daughter, Brooke Furniss (Chris Zammar) of Chicago, IL; son, Jordan (Breanna) Furniss of Thousand Oaks, CA; sister, Sandra H.
