CHRISTINA BATIE
IDAHO FALLS, ID -- Christina Searle Batie, 61, of Idaho Falls, passed away November 23, 2002 at her home.
She was born to Walter Loveless Searle and Ruth Virginia Taylor Searle on February 18, 1941. She was the mother of three beautiful daughters and eight grandchildren. She graduated from Idaho Falls High School, then graduated from Beauty College. She was also employed by First Security Bank as a data processor.
She married Jerry Charles Batie October 26, 1962 in Idaho Falls. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. They later divorced. She worked in Food Service for many years, for Bowl-ero, Smitty's Pancake House and also as a cook at Yellowstone Care Center. She enjoyed working with the physically and mentally handicapped. She was employed by INEEL in food service for 18 years until the time of her death. Her co-workers called her "the mother trucker of Scoville, Idaho Cafeterias." Even though she worked in Food Services, she always dressed to the “tee.” Co-workers always joked and asked “Why are you all dressed up, where are you going?” She was easily teased and joked with by all who worked with and knew her.
She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She held positions as primary teacher, secretary and homemaking chairman. She was a friend to many and always had a smile on her face. She had a great sense of humor and always had a shoulder to cry on and a generous heart. She accepted everyone for “who they were.”
She loved “shopping” and “buying” gifts for others. Her favorite time of year was “Christmas” and she always made sure everyone had a great Christmas. She also had a great gift of art and painting. She had an eye for decorating and displaying her decorations. She will be greatly missed by all her family, friends, all who new her, and her buddies (cats) “Tuffer” and “Taz” will miss her.
