Christian Arthur Anderson, 79, of Idaho Falls, passed away August 6, 2017, at his home.
Chris was born November 29, 1937, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, to Clyde LeRoy Anderson and Constance Porter Anderson. He grew up and attended schools in Alpine, Utah, graduating from American Fork High School. Following graduation, he worked at Dugway Proving Grounds. He attended University of Utah and graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Zoology in 1965. He continued his education at University of Arizona where he earned a Master’s Degree in Microbiology in 1972. He also served in the military retiring after 20 years as a Lieutenant Colonel.
On February 11, 1966, he married Linda Le Prichard in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple. Two children were welcomed to this union: Kirsten and Christian "Andy". Chris and Linda lived in Santa Fe, New Mexico before moving to Idaho Falls, where Chris worked as an Environmental Scientist for the Department of Energy (DOE). He later worked as a driver and handyman for the Eye Center and as a Adjunct Professor in Microbiology at Eastern Idaho Technical College (EITC).
He was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many callings. As a youth he served as a missionary in Denmark from 1958-1960. He enjoyed woodworking, gardening, classical music and following University of Utah sports. He especially loved his family and spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Chris also loved being with Linda and doing anything with her especially taking her to quilt shows.
Chris is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Linda Anderson of Idaho Falls, ID; daughter, Kirsten M. (Sean) McComas of Idaho Falls, ID; son, Christian "Andy" (Wendy) Anderson of Stansbury, UT; sister, Mary Lou Petersen of Salt Lake City, UT; sister, Lynn (Glen) Brown of Palmer, AK; sister, Faye (Larry) Litster of San Antonio, TX; sister, Anne Esplin of New Plymouth, ID; brother, Jerry (JoAnne) Anderson of Salt Lake City, UT; 8 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and four siblings, Clyde Thomas Anderson, Elaine Bateman, Lorraine Anderson, and Brian Anderson.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 11, 2017, at Idaho Falls LDS Church (3195 South Holmes) with Bro. Todd Sleight, first counselor in the Sunnyside Ward bishopric, officiating. The family will visit with friends from 6:30-8 p.m. Thursday at Wood Funeral Home East Side (963 South Ammon Road) and Friday from 10-10:45 a.m. prior to services at the church. Burial will be in the Ammon Cemetery with military rites performed by the Bonneville County Veterans Memorial Team and Idaho Honor Guard.
