Christene Sue McCain Thomason, 55, of Idaho Falls, passed away May 17, 2011, due to a stoke at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center. Chris was born October 12, 1955, in Holdrege, Nebraska, to Mitchell Woodrow McCain, Sr. and Aline Gracie Burgess McCain. She grew up in Colorado and graduated from Sterling High School in Sterling, Colorado. In December of 1991, she met her soul mate and the love of her life, Lonnie Glen Thomason, in Arvada, Colorado. They were married February 11, 1997, on Canyon Lake in Chandler, Arizona, on the steamboat “Dolly.” Chris, although unable to have children, chose to adopt and raise dogs, who were very much her babies. Chris worked as a ACI Certified Concrete and Asphalt Tester, a city inspector over roads construction, a painter, and an entrepreneur. She loved the outdoors and fishing, as well as creating stained glass art, gourmet cooking, and volunteering. Chris was very loving and giving. She was happy, friendly, and funny and made friends wherever she went. She cared about everyone. If anyone was in need, she would do whatever it took to help. Chris leaves behind her husband Lon of Idaho Falls; a sister, Rusty Broughton (Karl Sorman) of Idaho Falls; a brother, Mitchell Woodrow (Ann) McCain, Jr. of Goose Creek, South Carolina; her mother-in-law, Mae Thomason, and sisters-in-law Dorothy Strohmeyer and Marie Fitzpatrick of California; sister-in-law Dorothy Thomason of LaPine, Oregon; many cousins, nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews; her furry children Baccus and Sheena; and her countless friends. She was preceded in death by her parents. Memorial Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 21, 2011 at Wood Funeral Home East Side, 963 South Ammon Road. The family will visit with friends from 10 to 10:50 a.m. prior to services at Wood East Side.
