Chris Sanchez

Christina Louise Sanchez, 70, passed away on February 17, 2026, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center, following a brief but courageous battle with cancer. Known affectionately as "Chris" to her friends and family, she was a lifelong resident of Pocatello.

Born on January 9, 1956, to Samuel and Isabelle Sanchez, Chris was a graduate of Pocatello High School. Her natural compassion led her to a career in healthcare; she earned her Associate's Degree in Nursing and served her community as a Registered Nurse for over 30 years. Chris took great pride in her profession and found true fulfillment in caring for others during their most difficult moments.

Chris lived a life full of vibrant interests and deep friendships. She was a dedicated member of her local pool league for many years and cherished the time spent playing cards with her close friends. She loved the energy of live concerts, the adventure of travel, and the quiet peace of her garden, where she spent many hours planting and tending to her flowers.

Though Chris never had children of her own, her heart belonged to her nieces, for whom she stepped into a maternal role with unwavering love and devotion. As her nieces grew and started their own families, she was proudly embraced as a grandmother. One of the greatest joys of her final days was meeting her "great-granddaughter," Amelia Jade; the time they spent together brought Chris immense happiness and peace.

Chris was preceded in death by her parents, Sam and Isabelle Sanchez; her sister, Victoria Ricks; and her brother-in-law, David Ricks.

She is survived by her three brothers, John Sanchez, Robert Sanchez, and Victor Manuel Sanchez; her nieces, Tina Ricks (Rick Croft) and Angela Ricks (Chris McElprang); and her grand-nieces, Raimey Lanham (Brendan), Keiyarah Quilimaco (Miriam), Brianna Croft (Josh), and Whitney Apel (Bridger). She also leaves behind many dear friends who became like family over the years.

In keeping with Chris's final wishes, there will be no formal funeral or celebration of life service.

Following cremation, she will be interred alongside her parents at their gravesite, returning to the family she loved so dearly.
