IDAHO FALLS, ID -- Chris Martin Niemeier, 53, of Idaho Falls, died September 8, 2001, in Logan, Utah.
He was born January 12, 1948, in Idaho Falls, to Henry Martin Niemeier and Maxine Phyllis Niessen Niemeier. He attended school in Shelley and graduated from Shelley High School. He attended the University of Idaho graduating with a Bachelors in Psychology and Masters Degree in Guidance and Counseling with emphasis in Rehabilitation Counseling.
He married Carla Cox on November 27, 1976 in Idaho Falls. He spent over 30 years as a Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor with the State of Idaho Vocational Rehabilitation agency. His dedication and commitment to his work led to the development of life-long friendships with clients, coworkers and professional peers.
He was an outstanding athlete, loving sports of all kinds. He was a member of the University of Idaho Vandals baseball and basketball teams and an active participant in Idaho Falls fast pitch, basketball, flag football, and coed softball activities. He eventually turned his full athletic attention to the game of golf and for 26 years he took great pleasure in playing individual and couples events both competitively and simply for the pleasure obtained from the people he met and played with.

Funeral Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 12, 2001, at St. Johns Lutheran Church, with Pastor Richard Collin officiating. The family will meet with friends on Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Wood Funeral Home and for one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in Fielding Memorial Park.
