Christopher Likes Nelson, 37, of Idaho Falls, Idaho, passed away August 1, 2014, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center.
Chris was born October 23, 1976, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, to Doyle Walker Nelson and Vickie Jolene Likes Nelson. He grew up and attended schools in Idaho Falls and graduated from Hillcrest High School in 1995. He also attended Ricks College in Rexburg, Idaho, where he earned an Associate’s Degree in Criminal Justice.
On April 3, 2008, he married Tomie Jean McBride. They were the parents to six children, Sydney, Ethan, Taya, Teague, Tate, and Sayla. Chris and Tomie made their home in Idaho Falls, where Chris worked as an Idaho State Police Trooper until 2010. He also worked at Sam’s Club.
He was a member of The Church of Jesus-Christ of Latter-day Saints. Chris enjoyed farming, fishing, hunting, baseball, motorcycles, Mustang cars, and especially loved spending time at his grandpa’s farm and target shooting. He loved being with his children.
Chris is survived by his loving wife of six years, Tomie, of Idaho Falls, ID;
daughter, Sydney Ann Nelson of Idaho Falls, ID;
son, Ethan Christopher Nelson of Idaho Falls, ID;
daughter, Taya Darcy Nelson of Idaho Falls, ID;
step-son, Teague Jensen of Idaho Falls, ID;
step-son, Tate Mark Jensen of Idaho Falls, ID;
step-daughter, Sayla Jean Jensen of Idaho Falls, ID;
parents, Doyle and Vickie Nelson of Idaho Falls, ID;
sister, Stephanie (Blair) Leonard of Clearfield, UT;
brother, Brad (Karri) Nelson of Idaho Falls, ID;
grandparents, William and Beverly Mercer of Menan, ID;
and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his grandpas, Elza Likes and Royal Nelson; grandma, Laveta Nelson Willyerd; and an uncle, Bruce Likes.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, August 6, 2014, at the Idaho Falls LDS Lincoln 6th Ward, 3102 Pinnacle, with Bishop Fredrick Gooch officiating. The family will visit with friends from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at Wood Funeral Home East Side, 963 S. Ammon Road, and from 10:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. Wednesday at the church. Burial will be in Annis Little Butte Cemetery.
