Cheryl Ann Smith, 62, of Idaho Falls, Idaho, passed away April 16, 2012, after a long, courageous battle with cancer.
Cheryl was born May 6, 1949, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, to Emmett and DeAlta Gallup. She was an only child and the apple of her Dad’s eye. She grew up and attended schools in Idaho Falls. She graduated from Idaho Falls High School. She then went on to cosmetology school. Cheryl loved doing hair, which she did for over 30 years and made a lot of friends along the way.
Cheryl married Boyd Smith in 1969 and they were later divorced. They had two children, Travis and Courtney, who were her pride and joy. Travis was taken early, which left a hole in her heart.
Cheryl had a love for life that was contagious. She loved gardening, feeding the birds, decorating and traveling. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She cherished spending time with her grandson each and every day.
Cheryl is survived by her daughter, Courtney (Aaron) Oberhansley of Idaho Falls, ID and her grandson, Aidan Travis Oberhansley. She was preceded in death by her parents and her son, Travis.
A Gathering for family and friends will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday, April 20, 2012, at Wood Funeral Home, 273 North Ridge, Idaho Falls.
