CHARLES MULLEN
IDAHO FALLS, ID -- Charles Verlin “Charlie” Mullen, Jr., 76, of Idaho Falls, died October 21, 2001, at Mt. Sinai Hospital in Miami, Florida following a sudden illness. He was born June 30, 1925, at Westview, Pennsylvania, to Charles Verlin Mullen, Sr. and Thelma Marie Kennison Mullen. In his early years the family moved to Colorado and he attended Denver public schools and the Colorado School of Mines. He was an Eagle Scout. He served in the U. S. Army during World War II in the South Pacific and earned a Purple Heart.
He married Eula Belle Starkey August 23, 1952, at Clovis, New Mexico. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple. They made their home in Idaho Falls, where he worked as a Chemical Engineer at the INEEL. In his later years he worked as a clerk and Store Manager for Maverik.
An active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, he served in various capacities over the years. He was currently serving a mission to the Idaho Falls Family History Library. He was a member of the Sounds Choir for 20 years, helped run the Explorer Olympics, was involved in Scouting, refereed volleyball, and was one of the founders of Grid Kid Football in Idaho Falls. He loved singing, family history, gardening, and especially loved his family.

Funeral Services will be at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, October 26, 2001, at the Idaho Falls LDS 26th Ward, 2025 Jennie Lee Drive, with Bishop Nolan Jensen officiating and Elder John H. Groberg presiding.
The family will visit with friends on Thursday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Wood Funeral Home, and for one hour prior to the services on Friday at the church.
