Dennis was born January 26, 1945, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, to Francis Elmer and Alice Lucy Collier Hayes. He passed away October 24, 2017 after a long, hard-fought battle with cancer.
He was raised and attended schools in Idaho, Oregon, Washington, and Utah. Dennis settled in Ogden, Utah and on July 23, 1971 he married Janine Kay Jones. During their marriage they had two children, Mathew Robert and Julie Anne. Dennis and Janine divorced but maintained a mutual love and respect for each other. He later moved back to Idaho Falls where he lived until his passing.
Dennis worked at Hill Air Force Base for many years. He had numerous hobbies, including fishing and art. He enjoyed painting and creating his own, unique items. He gained a wealth of memories during his life and made countless friends throughout his journeys. His stories could fill the page.
He is survived by his children, Mathew (Nicci) Hayes and Julie Hayes Campbell; and grandchildren, Gabe, Kage, Darci, Parker, Mya, and Adrien. He is also survived by sisters Carolea Cussins, Nila Child and Sue Hayes Cicchetti; brothers Joe and Danny Hayes; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Darlene Adams; and brothers Beldon, Burdette, Marvin, Neil, Kerry, Dee, and Monte Hayes.
His family would like to thank the staff at Broadway Fields Assisted Living and Hands of Hope Hospice for their care and compassion. A special thank you to his caseworker and friend, RC Phelps, who went above and beyond for Dennis.
To honor his wishes, there were no formal services. A wake for family and friends was held to celebrate his life. In memory of Dennis, please hug your loved ones and live with no regrets.
