Charles Mark Dutkevitch

Charles "Charlie" Mark Dutkevitch, 85, of Idaho Falls, passed away August 26, 2026, at Lincoln Court Retirement Community. He was under the care of Aspen Home Health and Hospice.

Charlie was born August 20, 1941, in Throop, Pennsylvania, the son of Leo Dutkevitch and Josephine Dembosky Dutkevitch. He grew up in the Scranton area and graduated from Throop High School in 1959.

Following graduation, Charlie proudly served his country in the United States Air Force for nearly nine years, specializing in electrical power production and automotive repair. He later continued his service as a Staff Sergeant and Jet Engine Mechanic with the California Air National Guard. He retired as a Master Sergeant from the Air Force with 26 total years of service which included tours in Vietnam, Okinawa and Alaska.

On October 02, 1962, he married Martha Gretz at Plattsburg Air Force Base, NY. They eventually made their home in Clovis, CA until after Martha's passing and in 2021, he moved to Idaho Falls, Idaho, with his son's family.

Charlie was a brilliant and highly skilled professional who spent decades working on the cutting edge of telecommunications infrastructure. He had a distinguished 14-year career as an equipment installer and technician for Western Electric (AT&T Technologies), working extensively with advanced digital switching and telephone infrastructure systems, before continuing his career locally as a Switch Technician. He then completed his telecommunications career, retiring from the Ponderosa Telephone Co.

Charlie was a member of the Catholic Church and volunteered with the Red Cross. Outside of his professional life, he also enjoyed golfing and was an avid Indy Car Racing fan in retirement. He was a devoted father, spending many hours attending marching band shows, gymnastics, and diving competitions. One of his all-time favorite thing was to dote on his four grandchildren.

Charlie is survived by his son, Charles (Terrie) Dutkevitch of Idaho Falls, ID; daughter, Joanna Dutkevitch of Clovis, CA; sisters, Joyce (Stanley) Ostrawski of Aiken, SC, and Laura (John) Fawcett of Throop, PA; four grandchildren: Melissa Gilming, Parker Dutkevitch, Emma Dutkevitch, and Sophia Williams; and one great-grandchild, Ensley Williams.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and his beloved wife, Martha Dutkevitch.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 12, 2026, at the New Sweden Cemetery. Military Honors will be performed by the Bonneville County Veterans Memorial Team and the Air Force Honor Guard. Services are under the care of Wood Funeral Home.
