Charles Doman

Our beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle, Charles DeVere Doman, 83, returned to his Father in Heaven on Monday, June 4, 2012, at The Gables of Shelley, with his wife of 64 years, Faye, by his side. Charles had been ill with Alzheimer’s Disease for several years and had been lovingly cared for by his family and the staff at The Gables of Shelley. Charles was born December 9, 1928, in Parma, Idaho, the son of Vernal DeVere Doman and Bertha Mae Sayre Doman. He spent his early years in Idaho and Wyoming, and graduated from Council High School. On January 24, 1948, he married Faye Dona Murdock in Paris, Idaho. Their marriage was solemnized in the Logan, Utah LDS Temple on August 2, 1956. Charles and Faye made their home in Pocatello and Montpelier, where they raised their five children, Alan, Sandra, Sara, Karen, and Kathy. Charles worked as a brakeman and conductor for Union Pacific Railroad until his retirement in 1991. Following his retirement they moved to Idaho Falls, where they have lived for 19 years. An active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Charles served in two Bishoprics, as Ward Mission Leader, Stake Missionary, and in various other capacities over the years. He was firm in his faith and was a faithful servant of Jesus Christ. A jack-of-all-trades, Charles loved tinkering with things, especially cars and carpentry. He was a hard worker and could fix nearly anything. He enjoyed playing games with his ‘Doman Rules,’ reading, playing the accordion, and camping. His family was his life and he loved spending time with them. Charles is survived by his wife, Faye, Son, Alan (Willa) Doman of Elko, NV; Daughter, Sandra (Wayne) Hanson of Ovid, ID, Daughter, Sara (Terry) Dawson of Idaho Falls, ID, Daughter, Karen Landis of Fort Myers, FL, Daughter, Kathy Marcum of Idaho Falls, ID; Brother, Rufus (Donna) Doman of Montpelier, ID; 29 grandchildren and 76 great grandchildren.
