Charles Deming

Charles Deming - 02/21/2003 Charles Deming - 02/21/2003 CHARLES "CHUCK" DEMING IDAHO FALLS, ID -- Charles “Chuck” Walter Deming, 81, of Idaho Falls, passed away from complications due to Alzheimers disease at Life Care Center on February 20, 2003. He was born April 1, 1921 at Worcester, MA to Walter and Lilian Hoyle Deming. He grew up and attended school in Warwick, RI. He enlisted in the Army/Air Force in 1941. He served in the Pacific Theater (Guam) during World War II. He was stationed at Gowan Field in Boise where he met the love of his life, Rita Mason. They were married at Gowan Field, September 1, 1943. On July 10, 1944, their first daughter, Linda Lee, was born to them. After the war, they moved to Warwick, RI where their son, Bruce Charles, was born on June 11, 1947. Then they moved to Ririe and then to Idaho Falls in 1948. On May 26, 1960, their daughter Cynthia Jo (Cindy) was born. Chuck worked at Idaho Falls Battery until 1964 when he started at Pinecrest Golf Course as superintendent. Chuck literally grew up on golf courses. From an early age he loved the game of gold, which led to the perfect union for him and the City of Idaho Falls as well. Under Chuck’s loving guidance and expertise, Pinecrest blossomed into a professional-worthy course. He helped design, build and bring to fruition Sand Creek and Sage Lakes golf courses among others. Only Chuck could get lush green grass to take root in sand! Without him, the courses would still be a dream. Chuck was blessed to be able to do what he loved as a profession. He loved every aspect of golf, from working with the land, to playing the game, to being with the people he loved to surround himself with, especially those up to a good story. The one thing everyone learned sooner or later when playing golf with him was that you don't out-maneuver Chuck! If you were lucky, he might have taught you the famed “Deming Waggle”. His sweetheart, Rita, of Idaho Falls, survives him and children, Linda Creel, Idaho Falls, Bruce and Enid Deming, Murray, UT, Cindy and Dave Rollins, Sugar City, ID. Grandchildren, Jim and Patti Landon, Idaho Falls, Vanessa and Steve Earley, Hyrum, UT, Melissa and Travis Waters, Idaho Falls, Eron and Mindy Deming, Las Vegas, Ben and Danielle Deming, Ann Arbor, Michigan, Alex Rollins and Liam Rollins, Sugar City.
