CHARLES CARRIER Click here to view video of Charles' Life AMMON, ID -- Charles Clark Carrier, 84, of Ammon, died May 5, 2008,at his home at The Gables Assisted Living Center. He was under the care of Creekside Home Health and Hospice. He was born September 9, 1923, to Fred T. Carrier and Carrie Yeager Carrier in Woodbine, Iowa, where he grew up and attended school. He joined the U.S. Army May 15, 1943 in Fort Crook, Nebraska, and served during World War II where he fought at Ardennes, Rhineland, Normandy and Central Europe. He received the Distinguished Unit Citation, the EAME Ribbon, four Battle Stars, Good Conduct Ribbon and the Bronze Arrowhead. He was honorably discharged in 1945. He has lived in the Idaho area since 1966. After his discharge from the Army he worked in the oil pipelines and owned a salvage yard. He worked in the maintenance department at Sacred Heart Hospital, which became Parkview Hospital and also owned and operated a small engine repair business. He married Sharon Lea Hawkins May 6, 1995, in Idaho Falls. They enjoyed RVing, camping and boating. He especially enjoyed small engine repair and his grandchildren. He was a member of the Lutheran Church. Survivors include: His wife: Sharon; Daughter: Cheryl Charlene (David) Behm , Mo Valley, IA; Daughter: Carole Maxine (Rob)Sears, Logan IA; Son: C. Michael( Connie) Carrier, Idaho Falls; Daughter: Jacqueline McCasland, Pocatello; Son: Kevin Young, Pocatello; Daughter: Robyn (Don) Stafford, Gridley, CA; Son: Don Hawkins, Idaho Falls; Son: Todd (Julie) Hawkins, Pocatello 34 Grandchildren and 29 Great Grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his late wife Pauline, three brothers, a sister and a granddaughter. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, May 8, 2008, at Wood Funeral Home East Side, 963 S. Ammon. The family will visit with friends for one hour prior to the services at Wood East Side. Military Rites will be performed by the Bonneville County Veterans Memorial Team and the Idaho Honor Guard.
