Charles Taggart Bowman, age 101 ½, passed away Thursday, July 7, 2011 at his residence at Lincoln Court. He died from natural causes brought on by old age. He was under the care of Access Hospice. “Chuck” Bowman was born December 12, 1909 at South Weber, Davis County, Utah to William James Bowman and Mary Amanda Taggart. He had eight brothers and sisters, all of whom have preceded him in death. One grandson and two great grandsons have also preceded him in death. He proudly graduated from the eighth grade in 1923. He drove truck from age 14 to age 89. During his lifetime he drove for millions of miles. While driving trucks, he hauled milk, concrete blocks, petroleum products and farm produce. He was often honored by his employers with various safety and lowest repairs honors. When asked what was his hobby, he replied, “My work. I always enjoyed whatever job I was doing.” His last job was as custodian for BMC West Truss Department for which he won the award for Employee of the Year. He married Mary Audrey Walker in the Logan LDS Temple on July 9, 1933 and was blessed with two children, Maureen and Garde. This marriage was dissolved on March 11, 1942. He married Rodonna Bringhurst on September 30, 1942 in Pocatello, Idaho, and this marriage was solemnized on August 21, 1953 in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. A year later, one child, Wyn, blessed this marriage. He was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and the calling he enjoyed most was Home Teacher. While he was a home teacher, he always had 100%. Chuck and Rodonna served an 18 month mission for the LDS church to the Pennsylvania, Pittsburg mission. He is survived by his wife, Rodonna Bringhurst Bowman; three children, Donna Maureen (Boyd Nelson) of American Falls, ID, Charles Garde (Beverly Halgren) and Charles Wynward “Wyn” (Dee Ann Ward), both of Idaho Falls, Idaho. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren, 46 great grandchildren and 57 great great grandchildren. Chuck was a modest, humble, hard-working husband and father who provided for his family to the best of his ability. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, July 11, 2011 at Wood Funeral Home, 963 S. Ammon Road. The family will visit with friends on Sunday, July 10, 2011 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and for one hour prior to services, with both visitations at Wood East Side. Interment will be at Ammon Cemetery.
