Charlene (Mickelsen) Smout

Charlene M. Smout, 74, of Rigby, passed away March 18, 2025, at Idaho Falls Community Hospital.

Charlene was born May 11, 1950, in Rexburg, Idaho, to Charles Peter Mickelsen and Jane Lorna Jolley Mickelsen. She grew up and attended schools in Rexburg.

She married Keith Harold Smout on March 11, 1974, in Bonneville County. Charlene and Keith made their home in Rigby where Charlene worked as a waitress and grocery attendant. She also loved later in life, team truck driving with her husband.

She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She enjoyed family, friends, and animals. She loved everyone with all her heart and soul. She never had any friends, they were all family to her.

Charlene is survived by her daughter, Jane (Chuck) Camp of Rigby, ID; son, Darwin (DeAnna) Smout; step-daughter, Suzanne (Wally) Frost; 11 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Keith Harold Smout; her parents; brothers, Charles Mickelsen and Pete Mickelsen; and step-son, Jay Paul Jackson.

A visitation will be held from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Monday, March 24, 2025, at Wood Funeral Home East Side, 963 S. Ammon Road in Ammon, Idaho.
