Cathy Paulsen

Cathy Ann Mandall Paulsen, 56, of Idaho Falls, passed away July 13, 2014, at her home. Cathy was born April 4, 1958, in Dalby, Queensland, Australia, to Walter Henry Mandall and Judith Ethel Murray Mandall. She grew up in the remote area of Jandowe, Australia. Her father was a road train driver and she loved driving his route with him from Adelaide north and south. She did over the radio school until her parents and two of her brothers were killed in an auto accident in April, 1968. Following the death of her family she was raised by relatives in Toowoomba, Australia. She came to the United States in early 1979 and she married Dennis Wynn Paulsen later that year in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. To this union were born four children, Dennis Jr., David, Daniel, and Katie. She and Dennis lived in Salt Lake City and Logan, Utah, and Hampton, Virginia, while he served in the military until moving to Idaho Falls fifteen years ago. A dedicated wife, mother, and homemaker, Cathy also worked as a sales clerk at Honks Dollar Store and in customer service at Melaleuca. An active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she served in the Relief Society and as a Primary Teacher. She enjoyed music and traveling. Cathy was a kind and generous person and made an impact for good in the lives of her family and many, many friends. She will be sorely missed. She was proud of her Australian heritage and was grateful to live her life with her family in her adopted homeland of America. Cathy is survived by her loving husband of 35 years, Dennis Paulsen of Idaho Falls, ID; son, Dennis Paulsen Jr. of South Hampton, VA, son, David Paulsen of Portland, OR, son, Daniel Paulsen of Idaho Falls, ID, daughter, Katie (Cheri) Paulsen of Idaho Falls, ID. 6 grandchildren and a grandson on the way. She was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers, Anthony, Shane, and Phillip Mandall. Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, August 2, 2014, at the Idaho Falls LDS Fallsbrook Branch (3700 East Lincoln Road). The family will visit with friends on Saturday from 10-10:45 a.m. prior to the services at the church.
