Catherine Sue Spellman

Catherine Sue Spellman, 73, of Idaho Falls, passed away July 28, 2026, at her home. She was under the care of Hospice of Eastern Idaho and her family.

Cathy was born November 5, 1952, in Los Angeles, California, to Patrick John Spellman and Kathleen Meehan Spellman. She grew up and attended schools in California, and graduated from Saint Paul High School in 1970. She also graduated from the University of Phoenix with her RN.

She worked as a registered nurse for the hospice industry. She was one of the first hospice nurses in the nation, and was fabulous with her patients and their families.

She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Idaho Falls, where she had served as a deacon. She loved animals, flowers, and her Yellowstone puppies that you should never pet.

Catherine is survived by her daughter, Christina Spellman of Idaho Falls, ID; extra daughters, Karevina Gainer of Bellflower, CA; Jasmine Lacy of Bellflower, CA; Sabine Tordjman of Boise, ID; brother, Mike Spellman of Whittier, CA; sister, Patricia Kubicki of Boise, ID; nephews, Mickey Zannitto, Patrick (Erica Valdez) Wilson, and Jeremy Spellman; niece, Jennifer(Doug) Murphy; and four great nephews and a great niece.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Patrick and Kathleen Spellman; and her sister, Mary Anne Schuman.

A special thank you to the Hospice of Eastern Idaho including the best nurse Patricia, along with Melissa, Camille, and Brenda, Pastor Phil and all of our friends/family at First Presbyterian Church who went above and beyond. Our many incredible neighbors who surrounded us with unending love, help, and support including Sandy Albaugh and many more.

Our extended family scattered across the country, the Gainer and Sims families who are our families, and her many dear and closest friends whom she loved.

Private family services will be held.
