Catherine Melba John-Lewis, 83, of Ammon, passed away October 15, 2022, at Teton Health Care of Cascadia.
Catherine was born January 15, 1939, in Saint Martinville, Louisiana, to Malcolm Robertson Sr. and Hazel Patterson Robertson. She grew up and attended schools in Louisiana and graduated from Carver High School.
On January 3, 1957, she married Americus John-Lewis in Louisiana. Catherine and Americus also lived in Iowa, California, and Washington before moving to Ammon, Idaho.
She was a member of the Catholic Church and was president of NAACP. She enjoyed shopping and hosting parties.
Catherine is survived by her daughter, Jessica Atherton of Boise, ID; son, Kevin (Becky) John-Lewis of Ammon, ID; son, Brian (Denise) John-Lewis of Monroe, LA; son, Kelly John-Lewis of Seattle, WA; brother, Alfred “AJ” Robertson of St. Martinville, LA; 15 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Americus John-Lewis; parents, Malcolm and Hazel Robertson; sister, Eloise Perkins; and brother, Malcolm “Whitey” Robertson, Jr.
Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 22, 2022, at Wood Funeral Home East Side, 963 S. Ammon Road, with Troy Clayton officiating. The family will visit with friends Friday from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and Saturday from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. prior to services, both visitations at the funeral home.
