Catherine "Cathy" Phipps

Catherine "Cathy" Isabelle Phipps, 71, of Idaho Falls, passed away May 1, 2017, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center. Cathy was born July 6, 1945, in Port Huron, Michigan, to Oliver Brahmer and Catherine Jones Brahmer. She grew up and attended schools in Port Huron and graduated from Port Huron High School. She also attended Bethel College and Michigan State University, earning her Bachelor’s Degree in Education in 1967. On June 24, 1967, she married Robert David Phipps in Port Huron, Michigan. To this union were born four children, Amy, Patty, Scott, and Darcy. Cathy and Bob made their home in Idaho Falls, Idaho. After her children were grown, Cathy worked as a 6th grade school teacher for Shelley School District for almost 20 years. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She was a Christian and member of Missionary Alliance Church where she served as a High School Youth Group Leader, a Sunday School Teacher and Treasure Seekers Leader. She was also a Bible Study Fellowship Leader. She enjoyed scenic drives through "God’s beautiful creation." The Tetons were her favorite. She was an avid reader, especially of mysteries and historical fiction. Cathy is survived by her loving husband of almost 50 years, Robert Phipps of Idaho Falls, ID; daughter, Amy (Keith) Langholff of Port Orchard, WA; daughter, Patricia (Scott) Killian of Pocatello, ID; son, Scott (Heather) Phipps, of Aurora, CO; daughter, Darcy (John) Carothers of Eagle River, AK; brother, John (Kris) Brahmer, of Vernon Hills, IL; and eight grandchildren, Konner, Shelby, Abby, Hunter, Hadley, Hannah, Ty & Farrah. She was preceded in death by her parents and her grandson, Keigen Langholff. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 27, 2017, at River of Life - A Church of The Alliance, 525 South Boulevard, with Pastor Timothy Rupp officiating. The family will visit with friends Saturday from 10-10:45 a.m. prior to services at the church. Burial will be in the Ammon Cemetery.
