CATHERINE FOX NAKAYAMA
IDAHO FALLS, ID -- Catherine “Cathy” Jane
Fox Nakayama, 54, of Idaho Falls, passed away March 25, 2004, at Eastern
Idaho Regional Medical Center.
She was born November 16, 1949, in Jamaica, New York
to Arthur F. McCormick and Agnes E. Funk McCormick. She then traveled
with her family to Florida, Africa, and Japan. Her family settled in Blackfoot
where she attended school. She attended Blackfoot High School where she
was the school's mascot.
In 1973, she met Thomas Fox and they married in 1974,
at which time they moved to Salt Lake City, and raised their family there
for the next 25 years. They were later divorced. She returned to Idaho
Falls in 1997, where she fulfilled a life-long dream, and was a business
partner with her sister, Cory. She was the manager and cook of the Brewed
Awakening Restaurant in downtown Idaho Falls. Cathy was a wonderful cook
and had many loyal customers who would come for her fantastic soups.
In 1999, she went to work at C-A-L Ranch, where she
met Fred Nakayama. They were married August 3, 2001, in Idaho Falls. Her
children and grandchildren were a special joy in her life. Her grandchildren,
Brooklyn, Grayden, and Madison will especially miss their Grandma Chatty.
She is survived by her husband, Fred Nakayama of Idaho
Falls; daughters Jen (Chad) Hadfield of Lehi, Utah, Marcie (Marty)Irons
of Riverton, Utah; son, Tommy Fox who is currently serving a mission in
New Jersey; mother, Agnes (Bill) Dean; and a sister, Cory (Pat) Zona.
She was preceded in death by her father Arthur McCormick; her brother,
Doug McCormick; and her stepfather, Dick Hobday.
Funeral Services will be at 6:00 p.m. Sunday, March
28, 2004, at Wood Funeral Home (273 N. Ridge Ave.), Idaho Falls, Idaho,
with Elder Thomas E. Fox, officiating.
The family will meet with friends from 4-6 p.m. prior
to the services.
