Catherine Tice Marler

CATHERINE MARLER IDAHO FALLS, ID -- Catherine Ann "Cat" Marler, 55, of Rigby, died July 7, 2005, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center of cancer. She was born November 24, 1949, in Hermon, New York, to Franklin J. and Lois Tice. She was raised in the heart of the Adirondack Mountains of New York State, graduated from Tupper Lake High School, and received a Bachelor of Arts degree from the State University of New York at Potsdam. On May 24, 2002, Catherine married Bob Marler, the love of her life. They moved to the Rigby area in May, 2002, and built their dream home in the cottonwoods along the South Fork of the Snake River. Though their time together was short, every day was a happy day. Catherine and Bob were sealed for all time and eternity at the Idaho Falls Temple on December 28, 2004. Catherine was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and took great comfort from her faith. For a short time, she served as assistant to the Compassionate Services leader in the Perry Ward at Ririe. Catherine loved being out of doors and enjoyed running, hiking, bicycling, cross country skiing, and fishing. She was a self-proclaimed "fiber addict" and devoted many hours to weaving, spinning, and knitting. Most of all, Catherine loved spending time with her husband, children, and grandchildren. Survivors include her husband, Bob Marler; daughters, Elizabeth Gardner of Baltimore, MD and Victoria Tice of Huntington Beach, CA; sons, Robert (Tricia) Marler of Orlando, FL and Jason (Shannon) Marler of Atlanta, GA; mother, Lois O'Neil Tice of Tupper Lake, NY; brothers, Gary (Wanda) Tice of Knoxville, TN, John (Karen) Tice of Saranac Lake, NY, and Stephen Tice of Tupper Lake, NY; and sister, Mary (Scott) Chartier of Tupper Lake, NY. She is also survived by four grandchildren. Catherine was predeceased by her father, Franklin J. Tice and four brothers, Patrick, Paul, David, and Franklin J. (II) Tice. Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, July 11, 2005, at the Ririe LDS Perry Ward, 285 2nd West in Ririe, with Bishop Steve Christensen officiating. The family will visit with friends for one hour prior to the services at the church. The family suggests that those wishing to remember Catherine do so through a contribution to the American Cancer Society, 2676 Vista Avenue, Boise, ID 83705.
