Catherine Trounson Gruel

CATHERINE "DICKIE" GRUEL IDAHO FALLS, ID -- Catherine "Dickie" Gruel passed away peacefully December 21, 2006, at her home in Parkwood Meadows in Idaho Falls. Dickie was born on January 26, 1926, in Ogden, Utah, the youngest of four children of Charles and May Trounson. Later, the family homesteaded near Twin Falls, and she graduated from Shoshone High School. While attending Colorado Women's College in Golden, Colorado, she met her future husband, Walt Gruel. They were married in Jerome, Idaho, on October 6, 1945. She chose to be a stay at home mom and together they raised four children and settled in Idaho Falls in the early 1960's. Dickie and Walt enjoyed 54 years together until Walt's death in 2000. Dickie is survived by her four children Cathie (Ed) Marohn of Charlotte, North Carolina; GG Gruel of Columbia, California; Wally (Anna) Gruel of Idaho Falls; and Nancy (Robert) Bower of Idaho Falls. She loved her nine grandchildren E.J., Doug, Imaya, Kaiah, Troy, Brandon, B.J., Ashley, Gordon, and many great grandchildren. Her family wants to thank the nurses of Aspen Hospice, Greg of EIRMC Wound Care, and all the staff at Parkwood Meadows for the care and many kindnesses shown our Mom. There will be a family gathering and interment of both Dickie and Walt in Jerome at a later date. The family suggests contributions to Hospice, rather than flowers.
