Catherine Rose Johnson Cook, 101, of Idaho Falls, spirit left this earth on April 14, 2014, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center. She was born September 7, 1912, at Leodore, Idaho to James Shirlie Johnson and Viola Ellen Miller Johnson. She also lived in Salmon, Shelley, Idaho Falls, and Twin Falls. She graduated from high school and received her License Practical Nursing training in Salmon. In 1933, she married Denny Elswood in Shelley, Idaho. They were later divorced. On March 19, 1955, she married Delwin Dean Cook in Salmon, Idaho. Catherine was a mother and homemaker and also worked as a LPN at Salmon Hospital. She was a Does Drove Chaplain for 30 years. Catherine was a member of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church since 1960 and was co-founder of the prayer chain. She enjoyed baking, sewing, handiwork, gardening, and had a great love of animals and the beauty of God’s nature. Survivors are her daughter, Sharon R. Elswood, Idaho Falls, Idaho; 4 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1975; her mother, Viola Johnson in January of 1993; and her son, Jim Elswood in 2004. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, April 21, 2014, at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church (270 N. Placer Avenue) with the Reverend Susan Speir, presiding.
