Catalina Ruiz de Sánchez, 52, of Idaho Falls, passed away March 2, 2018, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center.
Catalina was born June 22, 1965, in El Aguacatito, MPIO Pacula, Hgo, Mexico to Javier Ruiz Chora and Irais Chavez Juarez. She grew up and attended schools in La Yerbabuena/Zimapán. In 1979, she migrated to the United States.
On October 18, 1980, she married Miguel Angel Sánchez Zuñiga in Idaho Falls. To this union were born four daughters: Ma. Eugenia, Analilia, Irais, and Norma. Catalina and Miguel made their home in Idaho Falls, Idaho where Catalina was a devoted mother and homemaker.
She was a member of the Catholic Church. She enjoyed crocheting, listening to music, cooking, baking, and dancing. She was very family oriented and loved spending time with her children.
Catalina is survived byher husband of 37 years, Miguel Angel Sánchez of Xodhe, MPIO Zimapán, Hgo; daughter, Maria Eugenia Sánchez of Idaho Falls, ID; daughter, Analilia (Sergio Alonso Barajas) Sánchez of Idaho Falls, ID; daughter, Irais Frances Sánchez of Idaho Falls, ID; daughter, Norma Pilar (Abelardo Garcia) Sánchez of Idaho Falls, ID; brother, Zeferino (Claudia ) Chavez of Idaho Falls, ID; brother, Roberto (Emilia) Ruiz of Lincolnton, NC; brother, Pedro (Carmen) Ruiz of Lincolnton, NC; brother, Javier (Lucila) Ruiz, Jr. of Newton, NC; father, Javier Ruiz Chora; mother, Irais Chavez Juarez; grandmother, Leobarda Chora; and seven grandchildren: Vianney, Jose, Aaliyah, Davian, Alonso, Vyanka, and Yuliana.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Florencio Ruiz.
A funeral mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 10, 2018, at Christ the King Catholic Church (1690 East 17th Street) in Idaho Falls. A rosary will be held on Friday at 6 p.m. with a visitation to follow until 8 p.m. at Wood Funeral Home (273 N. Ridge). Burial will be in the Ammon Cemetery.
